Hey Guys!
Hope your week has been off to a fierce start.
There is so much going on right now but blogging will definitely do the magic for me so here you are. Stylists rarely get enough time to be prepared for work, especially around here…i constantly have to live up to crazy deadlines and this was the case with this photo shoot that had to come through within 72 hours for 7 male artistes and 24 looks in all! Obviously, this had to be done in 2 days. I love a challenge and naturally thrive under pressure so i took it on and put together a team for both days, to make it happen, at least i was getting paid for it.
As is with every other project i work on, there was a brainstorm session for the creative direction of each artiste as their peculiar music, market and image demands. This is usually the hard part but once gotten right, everything else sorta falls in place, so its a stage i spend quality time on. After that comes the sourcing of outfits, shoes, accessories and all, i couldn’t take pictures of a lot of stuff as i was on a very tight schedule but manage what i have…it at least gives you an idea of the chaos that’s custom to the life of a stylist
In all, there were about 30 pairs of shoes on set….
its all in the detail!
Sadly i couldn’t take pictures with all the guys or in a quarter of the looks but when pictures are out…everyone gets to see : )
A lot of looks were hip hop inspired even though 1 or 2 guys favored tailored, vintage and retro looks, settling for 3 fave looks for each artiste from rails of clothing and then fitting before going on set was quite exhausting. The idea however, is to stay Gingered throughout : )
Asides from the fashion, it was so interesting hanging out with these guys for 2 days…..they were pretty amazing. Dammy was especially really funny….and i could use a joke in the middle of the heat, hunger and long work hours.
This happens to be the only one out yet but soonish all will come to light! I tend to look towards these types of shoots now in terms of scope…apart from the fact that they pay more, they definitely have a lot more experience in them. The dynamism of each artiste, the peculiarity of each outfit, just gives one a platform to really express true sense of style, the entire thing is just amazing!
Cheers to many more photo shoots for more record labels and in the nearest future
Stay fun and fashionable
its Ms Modish, xx
